XYLA FOXLIN
YOUTUBER & MECHATRONICS ENGINEER
IF/THEN Series
Xyla Foxlin has a knack for breathing life into inanimate objects. She is a mechatronics engineer, which means she builds electro-mechanical systems like robots!
Foxlin problem-solves, brainstorms, and builds creative solutions on her Youtube channel, and has even helped Disney fly life sized X-Wing drones over Disneyworld. Even if her attempts end up not working, Foxlin is the first to celebrate her failures, get right back up, and try again. She’s an awesomely atypical innovator who can operate any powertool while rocking some bright lipstick. When she’s not in a machine shop, Foxlin can be found dancing the night away on the salsa floor, climbing mountains and rocks, or curled up on the couch with a good book.
She wants you to know “I dropped out of college when the tech startup I founded was funded, but eventually I realized that what I WANTED (regardless of whether the company succeeds or not) was to go back and finish my degree, so I shut the company down and went back to school. No regrets!”
Educational Pathway: Foxlin made her own major in college, focusing on mechatronics engineering and creative technology. She also minored in studio art!
