SHAESTA WAIZ
PILOT
Shaesta Waiz is first female certified civilian pilot from Afghanistan. She’s also the first person in her family to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree. Ms. Waiz flew around the world by herself in a single engine airplane. Can you imagine this? Learn more about her amazing story at the links below.
Ms. Waiz also started the nonprofit Dreams Soar to inspire girls interested in aviation and STEM. Recently, her story was made into an children’s book “Fly Girl, Fly”!
Ms. Waiz was born in a refugee camp and came over with her family to the United States as a baby. As written on her Dream’s Soar website she has a “burning desire to help others like her to work hard, never give up and follow their dreams.”
