DR. TALITHA WASHINGTON
MATHEMATICIAN
There are many mysteries in our world—can we use math to answer these questions? Dr. Talitha Washington shows us that we can: she continuously seeks to apply mathematics in different forms to learn more about our world. For example, she’s used math to learn how viruses, hormones, and proteins affect our bodies
Dr. Washington enjoys her work at Howard University. Passionate about education, she says: “I aspire to inspire students to explore a variety of mathematical concepts and applications.” As a program officer at the National Science Foundation, she works to ensure underrepresented groups and diverse institutions are included in STEM endeavors nationwide. In her spare time, among other activities, she shares motivational speeches on diversity and mathematics to a wide range of audiences.
