Dr. Sylvie Garneau-Tsodikova works towards discovering and developing new medicines to combat infections caused by microbes like bacteria and fungi. She and her team use their expertise in chemistry to create new molecules. They then test the molecules to see how well they fight the bacteria and fungi that make people sick.

Dr. Garneau-Tsodikova has expertise in biology as well as chemistry, which is needed to do this work! (Can you explain why?) She is a professor and her team is composed of people working in chemistry, molecular biology, and biochemistry.
