DR. NATHAN CHOMILO
PHYSICIAN
As a general pediatrician and internist, Dr. Nathan Chomilo cares for children and adults alike. (An internist has expertise on diseases affecting internal organs but works only with adults). He is especially “passionate about helping families raise healthy and successful children and being an advocate for children within our communities.” He advocates for healthy behaviors in kids, like good eating habits, sleeping well, and reading. He even gives his young patients under 6 a book so that they can stay reading!
Dr. Chomilo is also the medical director of Minnesota’s Medicaid program. He helps manage the state health insurance program and ensures the insured receive proper care. He also gives talks to other doctors, nurses, students and even teachers about the importance of healthy habits for children and health equity.
Dr. Chomilo shares, “My parents grew up in Cameroon, so I had a hard time finding where I fit in between my Cameroonian-American community, the African-American community and the predominantly white community I grew up in. This led me to doubt myself at times and even to this day it can be an extra challenge but I have learned how to be a part of all of those communities while being proud of who I am. . . Find people in your life that love you for you and not who everyone else thinks you should be!”
