DR. MARYAM ZARINGHALAM
SCIENCE COMMUNICATOR AND BIOLOGIST
Dr. Zaringhalam, a molecular biologist and AAAS Science and Technology Fellow, believes that science belongs to everyone, so she works to connect science to the public. She wants scientists from diverse backgrounds to feel included and supported in science. She works on policies to help scientists share their research with the public and coaches them on how to use stories to connect with audiences.
As a member of the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) Science Network, Zaringhalam argues for the funding of science and defends its importance to society. She is also part of the leadership team for 500 Women Scientists, which strives to make science “open, inclusive, and accessible.”
Her research was in biology and genetics.
Her card was developed by CAPTS and former Hoover High student Fatima P.
