DR. HOWARD LIU
CHILD PSYCHIATRIST
As a child psychiatrist, Dr. Howard Liu works with kids from preschool to college, and even some adults too! He does talk therapy, diagnoses patients, and prescribes medication when needed. About his job, Dr. Liu says: “I get to work with the bravest people willing to face their depression, anxiety, trauma, etc. If you enjoy listening and helping people, consider a job in psychiatry!”
Dr. Liu also spends time on professional development in psychiatry, using of social media for advocacy, and how social media can be used for professional development in psychiatry. In addition, he speaks up about science, mental health, and the need for diversity and women in leadership across all professions. He is a strong advocate of HeforShe and serving underserved populations in psychiatry. Dr. Liu notes that he is “a champion for women doctors and scientists.”
