DR. FLIP TANEDO
PARTICLE PHYSICIST
Dr. Flip Tanedo uses mathematics to figure out the basic building blocks of matter. His research seeks to understand the mysterious “dark matter” that helped form our galaxy. He leads a team of students to invent new theories that can explain where this dark matter came from and how we can ultimately study it in a laboratory. The implications of his work connects subatomic physics to the cosmological fate of the universe.
Dr. Tanedo is also a strong advocate for diversity in the physics field. He particularly emphasizes the importance of considering a student’s ‘STEM Identity’ when teaching them.
Dr. Flip Tanedo is the first Filipino-American professor of particle physics. He currently teaches at University of California-Riverside.
