DR. DANIELLE TWUM
IMMUNOLOGIST
IF/THEN Series
Dr. Twum’s journey into biology started with an interest in sea anemones (where Nemo lived!). She is now an expert on the immune system, which are the parts of our body that work together to fight pathogens and disease.
Dr. Twum wants to know how we can help the body’s immune system fight cancer. In cancer, certain cells in the body grow uncontrollably. Dr. Twum asks: how can we make our body’s immune cells STOP the growth of the cancerous cells?
Dr. Twum would like you to know she loves Korean food, dancing, and puppies. She is passionate about making science accessible to all.
Educational Pathway: Dr. Twum studied biology in college and cancer immunology in graduate school.
