DEBBIE STERLING
CEO & FOUNDER of GOLDIEBLOX
IF/THEN Series
Debbie Sterling is the founder and CEO of GoldieBlox , an award-winning children’s multimedia company. She also is an engineer and entrepreneur.
Before starting GoldieBlox, Sterling was frustrated to see that all the engineering toys were marketed toward boys. She set out to create products that allowed young girls to explore their interest in engineering.
Since the early days of raising start-up funding online, GoldieBlox has grown into a wildly successful company. They sell products, make videos, and more to inspire children all over the world to get building!
In her If/Then Profile Sterling says, “The type of engineering I do is called ‘Product Design,’ and product designers invent all kinds of things...from phones to shoes to toys! [..] The types of toys I love to invent are the kinds that get young kids, especially girls to fall in love with STEM.”
Educational Pathway: Sterling studied mechanical engineering in college.
