Interactive Camouflage presentation: Grades 1-4

This is a fun interactive presentation where students must find the camouflaged animal, so students get a real visceral response of how effective camouflage can be!

There are a large range of NGSS standards from 1st - 4th grade and camouflage can fit into many of them. For example, for 4-LS1-1, camoflage is essentially an external “structure” (skin pattern or texture) that helps promote survival. For 3-LS3-1, students can observe and discuss how offspring’s camouflage patterns are similar or different from to their parents.

It also address NGSS crosscutting concepts: Patterns and Structure and Function

The lesson can be used to supplement virtually all NGSS standards regarding animals in grades 1-4.
