BEA MENDEZ-GANDICA
ENGINEERING PROGRAM MANAGER
IF/THEN Series
Bea Mendez-Gandica works on a team at Microsoft that helps make sure customers using their Azure product are billed correctly for their usage data. Azure provides cloud computing technology. Mendez-Gandica makes sure Microsoft can accurately track what resources each customer is using for billing purposes. A big company like Microsoft has a lot of users so this is not an easy task!
Companies are always building new products. Mendez-Gandica also supports her team by making it possible to charge customers with minimal impact to developers building new Azure offerings. She helps make the current technologies she works on more efficient and compliant.
It is important to Mendez-Gandica that all students have an opportunity to learn about technology and STEM. Consequently, she started the Nuevo Foundation to help students from underrepresented groups become STEM leaders. Interested educators should contact the Nuevo Foundation to schedule a STEM expert virtual speaker session for their classroom.
Mendez-Gandica grew up in Venezuela, studied in Germany, China, and India. She says: “Be proud of who you are and where you come from. Remember that is what makes you truly unique!”
Educational Pathway: Mendez-Gandica studied Information Systems in college and then completed a Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems.
