AFUA BRUCE
COMPUTER ENGINEER
Afua Bruce works with data to help people. In her words, “My team is made up of data scientists —people who find patterns and interesting information in data, and then create computer programs to help everyone understand how to work together better. We work on all types of causes—helping with access to water, making sure food banks can distribute food, finding what support people need to graduate college, figuring out how medicine can get to people in their homes more quickly, keeping kids in safe homes, and more. I like my job because I get to help people use their technical expertise to solve big problems and strengthen communities.”
Ms. Bruce has worked in big companies, small organizations, and for the government -- including the FBI and the White House! She describes herself as someone who has a “bunch of interests, and focus[es] on whatever is most interesting at the time or on how to combine interests.”
Ms. Bruce’s card was developed by former CAPTS and Hoover High student Rahmiir M.
